The WCF 'schools project' run by Gavin Ross secures funding for 2015

After the highly successful 1st event at St Andrews in September, WCF has secured sufficient funding from the Worthing CLC, the local Safer Roads Partnership and the Day Group to run events at Davison, Worthing High & Durrington High in the coming months.

As well as a visual presentation and some scenario exercises based around road awareness and safer cycling, Year 11 students with bikes had front & back 'wrap on' lights together with tyre valve flashing warning lights fitted to their bikes.

A27 Lancing to Shoreham Cycleway

It was with some surprise that I noticed that the Highways Agency was building what looked like a cycleway along the southern side of the A27 between Manor Road roundabout in Lancing (by the sports centre) and the Coombes Lane traffic lights.

I have now contacted the Highways Agency, and this is indeed a shared-use footway and cycleway that they are building, along with upgrading the pedestrian crossing at the sports centre to be a Toucan crossing usable legally by bicycles as well as pedestrians!
